Cadbury — The Jump
A little time together.
In commercials you have so little time to prep actors, you have to get creative and resourceful with how you make use of the time you do have them. Playing characters who are meant to have a relationship going back years is one of the hardest things to fake. We cast in England and shot in Majorca, so I took advantage of the cast flying in early for fittings and sent our on-screen dad Chris off to an amusement park with his on-screen son and the boy’s real dad, so they could get to know each other fast. Having his actual dad there turned out to be a huge help. Seeing his dad and Chris bonding and building trust is sometimes worth more to a kid than trying to force a bond between him and the actor directly.
